Jürg Schmid is a senior lecturer and researcher at the Sport Science Institute of the University of Bern (Switzerland) where he teaches classes in sport psychology, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and evaluation research. His research centers on motivational aspects of sports participation, psychology of personal interests, careers in elite sports, and development and validation of measurements in sport psychology. He joined the Substantive-Methodological Synergy Research Laboratory in February 2019 as a visiting scholar.
