Organizational Psychology:
COMMITMENT, MOTIVATION, AND WELLBEING
Organizational Psychology
An important part of our research is linked to organizational psychology. This research focuses on the positive drivers of employees' performance, motivation and well-being, with a strong focus on the constructs of workplace commitment . For instance, in the commitment area, we are closely involved in the development of a multifocal (focusing on the multiple entities to which employees can commit) person-centered perspective of workplace commitment.
Lab members and collaborators have also played a pioneering role in the development of a person-centered perspective (i.e., focused on the identification of distinct types of employees) across a wide range of organizational research areas including need satisfaction, motivation, social support, empowerment, workaholism, burnout, engagement, leadership, the work-family interface, remote work, etc. As such, we welcome research focusing on almost all areas of organizational psychology.
As our developmental research moves across the transition to adulthood, it is our long term goal to connect our research on human development with our organizational research, to better capture the mechanisms (including the socialization process) underpinning students' entry into the workforce.
Measurement
Doing research in a French-speaking area creates a challenge due to the lack of psychometrically sound instruments. To address this issue, lab members have been involved in the development of publicly accessible instruments assessing a variety of organizational constructs in French and English.
